We are excited to announce Sean Keating as this year’s recipient of the Align Farms Agriculture Scholarship! 🎉

Sean, a first-year student at Lincoln University, is pursuing his passion for agriculture and business with enthusiasm. Although he grew up in Auckland, Sean’s interest in farming began on his family’s lifestyle block in Waikato, where he was captivated by the processes of raising livestock and growing produce.

Since arriving at Lincoln, Sean has fully immersed himself in the agricultural world, balancing his studies with practical farm experience. From working with deer and dairy cattle to maintaining lifestyle blocks, Sean has demonstrated a hands-on commitment to the industry. His time at Lincoln has deepened his love for the science behind agriculture, particularly how soil health, sustainable practices, and economic strategies work together to support a thriving agricultural industry.

Sean’s vision for the future reflects his passion for farming, economics, and food systems. While he’s still deciding what the future holds, he is drawn to the idea of working for a large-scale corporation, where he can combine his interests and contribute to creating more sustainable and nourishing food solutions. His drive, curiosity, and leadership – which saw him excel as Head Boy at Birkenhead College – made him a standout candidate in what was another highly competitive year.

Congratulations, Sean! We can’t wait to see how your journey in agriculture unfolds. 🌱
