Align Jacawanda

Jacawanda is based in Ealing, just off State Highway 1. Jacawanda is contract milked by Ben and Rach Averill. They joined Align in 2026.
Originally part of one larger farm, totaling 416 effective hectares. But when Align purchased the land in 2014, Jacawanda was separated into its own standalone operation.

Jacawanda is equipped with an 80-bale rotary cow shed, calf and implement shed, Feed pad, and 6 Centre-pivot irrigators. Jacawanda supplies A2 milk to Westland Milk. The farm’s irrigation water is provided by the Mayfield Hinds Irrigation Scheme and associated groundwater.

Jacawanda is named after Jackie Buchanan and Wanda Buchanan, both members of the Buchanan family.

Jacawanda and our regenerative study

Jacawanda still run our conventional farming system. This is an important part of our study, as it gives us a benchmark to measure our regenerative-run farms against. To date, our regenerative learnings have been able to inform elements of our conventional farming practices. They have given us the confidence to extend our grazing rounds, introduce diverse pastures, and lower our nitrogen use.
